Despite volumes of research, society at large is still derisive of the possibility that the most complex organ in the human body, the one we arguably know the least about, the brain, could possibly malfunction.
We accept that the heart may have its blood flow interrupted resulting in myocardial infarction, or a heart attack. We accept that the heart can malfunction. We accept that the body's immune system may attack the insulin producing beta cells of the pancreas which leads to type-1 diabetes. We accept that the human immune system can malfunction. Doesn't it follow that the brain, most complex of all organs, can also malfunction? Whatever the case, the mechanics resulting in mental disorders is a subject best saved for its own volume. For this work, I attempt to appeal to the reader's empathy.
This short story attempts to convey what it's like to have major depressive disorder to those who haven't experienced it. Not just acute depression that leaves after a brief period, but major depressive disorder. The kind that leaves the afflicted without hope.
This is a short story, around 2500 words. I would give it away for free but 's minimum selling price is ninety-nine cents. My hope is that it may be able to help those who don't struggle with depression understand those who do.

The description of the lack of energy and motivation is palpable. I think the suicidal ideation was important to mention. however as someone who suffers from this people needs to understand the depths of despair involved. A great deal of the story was about self hate which is important to mention. however more importantly people need to understand how bad it feels like the reason you have become someone who you think is worthless. remember the depression caused you to act and feel the way you feel. They real you is under it but just unreachable. that is why we have depression not because of the lack of will power but the lack of brain chemistry for our inner self to truly shine. you get the t times it feels as though nd comparisons such as how picking up a newspaper is too overwhelming at timesProduct details

Brought tears to my eyes as I understand where this man is....the dark place. Some days are better than others but it still has it's awful and strong grip. I would like to read more from him. Has he found a way of dealing with major depression to help ease the strong grip of the dark place? Hoping for some recovery and some closure on his story.
I'm thankful for this book and urge the author to write more to increase awareness.
